Seoul Migrant Workers Center is a not-for-profit organization that aims to build reciprocal relationships between foreign workers and the Korean community.

WHAT WE DO
1. Counseling on human rights and labor relations issues
Seoul Migrant Workers Center provides hands-on advice on the critical work-place issues, including delayed payments, industrial accidents, assaults, and abuses by local employers on behalf of migrant workers. We also help them to resolve compulsory departure issues, manage domestic issues, and send money to their respective home countries.

2. Medical Assistance
We run a self-devised, free medical care service, which is similar to the Korean medical insurance system. On the first and third Sunday of each month we operate a free clinic for migrant workers at Kyoung-Dong Church located near Dongdaemun Stadium. The free clinic is held at Jeong-Dong Church next to Deok-Su Palace on the second and fourth Sundays.

3. Shelter for migrant workers
We provide accommodation for migrant workers, who are sick or have been injured at work. Migrant workers of each gender can stay for free in separate shelters, where they can eat and sleep. These shelters are in the process of being registered as a Non-Governmental Organization.

4. Education
We hold classes on Korean language and computer skills, in order to help migrant workers to better adjust to living in Korea. We also offer educational classes on topics such as labor relations, repatriation, Korean customs, and industrial labor skills.

5. Sponsorship for migrant workers communities
The Center encourages group dynamics among migrant workers by supporting diverse group activities. We help workers from various nations, including Nepal; Bangladesh; and Uzbekistan, to effectively organize and run communities to share information and socialize with fellow members.

6. Support movement to improve legal environment for migrant workers
A significant part of the center¡¯s activities is to take the lead in reforming the legal system, which is one of the most fundamental causes of human rights abuses of migrant workers.

7. Enhancement of the local and international alliance
The issue of migrant workers is not a simple problem that the Center can resolve on its own. It requires strong cross-national cooperation among activist groups on both local and international levels.

8. International Families
We support international families including the family of Philippine migrant workers families.

9. Cultural activities
The Center organizes a wide variety of cultural activities such as sports fair, picnics, Korean culture activities, and international festivals.

10. Cross-organizational collaboration
The Center closely works with member organizations and activist groups, in order to enhance our efforts to better mutual understanding among Korean people and migrant workers in Korea.

11. Public Relations
We are constantly communicating with the publics about the cause of our actions and migrant worker issues through our bi-weekly newsletter, ¡®Nageunae Hap-Chang¡¯, and other channels such as Daum On-line Community and broadcast media.
